PROTECTION FROM COLDS
A moderate exercise program may reduce the incidence of colds. A study published in The American Journal of Medicine found that otherwise sedentary women who engaged in moderate exercise had fewer colds over a one year period than a control group. Over the 12 months, the risk of colds decreased modestly in exercisers and increased modestly in stretch.  The final three months of the study, the risk of colds in stretchers was more than 3-fold higher than that of exercisers.

WATCH YOUR WEIGHT; CUT YOUR RISK OF CANCER
The American Cancer Society announced that keeping weight under control is the most important thing you can do to prevent the disease. In revised guidelines, the society put top priority on the diet and fitness, saying that eating a nutritious diet, staying active and limiting alcohol are the top things Americans should do to fight cancer. One third of more than 500,000 cancer deaths each year are attributable to poor diet and no physical activity, the cancer society said.  That’s about the same number of cancer cases caused by smoking.
