Nadi Shodhana is a relaxation breathing technique that can be used throughout the holiday season and the year.  The Natural breath patterns biorhythm will dominate one side of the nose for about two hours and then switch to the other side.  When the right side of the brain is more active the left nostril dominates and when the left side of the brain is more active the right nostril dominates. The “Nerve Purification Breath” (Nadi Shodhana) balances and equalizes the breath through the nose making other breathing more effective.

Using your right hand, curl your first two fingers and your baby finger into the palm of the hand so that the thumb and ring finger are free. Use the ring finger to close the left nostril and the thumb to gently close the right nostril. Start by closing the eyes and lengthening the spine from the tailbone to the crown. Inhale and exhale through both nostrils then close the left nostril and inhale through the right, close the right and exhale through the left, inhale through the left then close the left and exhale through the right.  This completes one round. Continue the practice keeping the spine long and breathe relaxed

Breathe well and enjoy the holiday
