Kellogg’s All-Bran Buds

Looking for a quick and easy way to bump up your fiber intake? You should try a sprinkling of Kellogg’s All-Bran Buds on your favorite cereal. Of course, you can eat a whole bowl full of this crunchy treat if you like – just make sure to drink plenty of water so that fiber can do it’s job. Each 1/3 cup serving provides 12 grams of dietary fiber (almost half a day’s worth). Not many cereals can brag about that. If a bowl of buds doesn't’ appeal to you, just sprinkle 2 tablespoons of buds onto your favorite cereal (or in yogurt, or on top of fruit). You will still get 5 grams of fiber – which is a good portion of the 25 to 30 grams you need daily to reduce your risk of cancer, keep your stomach healthy, and stabilize your blood sugar levels (so you don’t feel as hungry or tired). Go buds!

Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Squares

Take a perfectly healthy cereal like Quaker Corn Bran Squares and add a bunch of sugar – what do you get?? Quaker Maple and Brown Sugar Squares. What a disappointment that they couldn’t leave a good cereal alone. Jazzing it up with more sugar (just what we all need) doubles it’s calorie content and cuts its fiber content per serving by half. Each small ½ cup serving (try eating just ½ cup of cereal!) packs in 119 calories and just 2.2 grams of fiber. It’s a good choice if you are trying to increase your calorie intake to put on a few pounds. For the rest of us out there trying to manage our weight, or shed a few pounds, stick to the original Quaker Corn Bran which gives you just 120 calories for a FULL 1 cup serving and 5 grams of fiber. Now that’s more like it!
